Former Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain passes away in Karachi

ISLAMABAD – Former President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain passed away in Karachi on Wednesday after a prolonged illness.

The son of the 80-year-old politician said that Hussain had been admitted to a private hospital for two weeks. He was suffering from cancer.

Mamnoon Hussain, who born in 1940 in Agra, served as the 12th President from 2013 to 2018 during the tenure of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

He also served as the Sindh Governor for a short period in 1999 when he had been appointed by the then President Rafiq Tarar.

President Arif Alvi, PML-N leaders and several other politicians have expressed condolence over the demise of the former president.

Social media users also condoled the death of Mamnoon Hussain.
