The Punjab government should strictly implement the standard operational procedures (SOPs) of Covid-19 as 30 cases of the most dreaded Delta virus which originated in India have been found in Lahore and Rawalpindi during the last week, raising fear about the fourth wave of the pandemic.

Talking to a private TV channel on Sunday, renowned virologist Prof Dr Waheeduz Zaman Tariq informed that 10 people were tested psitive during last week in Lahore and all of them were carrying Delta (Indian) virus.

He informed that in Rawalpindi, 20 cases of Delta virus were confirmed last week which has triggered a fear that it would set into motion the fourth wave of the pandemic in the country.

To curb Delta virus’ advances, the government has made vaccination compulsory for government employees. The government has decided to cut salary of those employees who are not inoculated.

The government officials are advised to submit the certificate of at least their first jab of the Covid-19 vaccine before July 2021 to their respective departments.
