Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that as many as eight more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 5,536 and 953 new cases emerged when 16218 tests were conducted.
This he stated in a statement issued here on Monday. He added that eight more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 5,536 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.
Shah said that 16,218 samples were tested which detected 953 cases that constituted 5.9 percent current detection rate.
He added that so far 4,596,490 tests have been conducted against which 342,211 cases were diagnosed, of them 92.2 percent or 315,378 patients have recovered, including 441 overnight.
The CM said that currently 21,297 patients were under treatment, of them 20,581 were in home isolation, 60 at isolation centers and 656 at different hospitals.
He added that the condition of 656 patients was stated to be critical, including 48 shifted to ventilators.
According to the statement, out of 953 new cases, 722 have been detected from Karachi, including 239 from East, 161 each in Central and South, 56 West, 55 Malir and 50 Korangi.
