Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has termed the drugs as a menace which creates socio-economic problems.
The chief minister said that drug traffickers are the enemy of humanity and the only place for such elements is Jail.
Usman Buzdar said that instructions have been issued to curb the drug peddlers involved in selling drugs outside educational institutions as such people do not deserve any concession.
In his message on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Chief Minister said that drug addicts are not only ignored but unfortunately society does not show any mercy towards them.
He said if we leave drug addicts all alone to die in a state of helplessness and depression it would be tantamount to cruelty as such people deserve sympathy rather than hate.
Rehabilitation of drug addicts is the state’s responsibility and the Punjab government has set up a first of its kind state-of-the-art hospital for such people where quality treatment facilities are available to drug addicts.
Usman Buzdar said that other segments of the society have to come forward to support the government for the eradication of drugs as well as to establish a drug-free society.
Meanwhile Punjab Chief Minister has taken strict notice of the murder of a girl child after abduction in the area of Khanewal and sought a report from RPO Multan.
The Chief Minister directed to bring the accused to the book, involved in this heinous act, at the earliest.
Usman Buzdar said that justice would be served to the affected family at any cost. He also extended heartfelt sympathies and condolences with the bereaved family.
