National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd.) Javed Iqbal visited Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Headquarters, Karachi.
FPCCI President Daroo Khan Achakzai and other prominent business community members warmly received him. Karachi NAB Director General (DG) Brig. (retd.) Farooq Naser Awan also accompanied him during his visit to FPCCI.
NAB Chairman, while addressing business community at FPCCI said that NAB always respected business community as business community was the back bone of development and prosperity of the country. He said that business community was playing pivotal role in economic prosperity of the country.
He said that NAB had constituted a 6-member committee to address the reservations of business community after due diligence in its Executive Board Meeting and to resolve their genuine complaints per the law. The Committee had been constituted by using powers conferred under section 33-C of NAB ordinance 1999.
He said that the Committee had been tasked to make recommendations about business community’s issues to NAB chairman. Businessmen committee’s recommendations would be reviewed by a 3-member NAB committee comprising NAB Deputy Chairman, Prosecutor General Accountability and Director General Operations. The NAB committee would review the recommendations of business committee and forward its final recommendations to NAB chairman. The chairman will issue directives for resolution of the issues of business community. The Committee had also been mandated to forward its recommendations directly to NAB chairman for consideration per the law. The Committee will comprise SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Iftikhar Ali Malik; FPCCI President Daro Khan Achakzai; Bank Ali Falah former President Atif Bajwa, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry former President Annum Nisar, Millat Tractors Chairman Sikandar Mustafa Khan and Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) former chief Jamil Yousuf.
NAB Chairman said that the Committee of business community would resolve issues of business community with mutual understanding per the law. The decision of NAB Chairman will be final.
