Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani declared that women officers are a very important segment of the Punjab Police whose excellent training and posting on important posts as well as encouragement is among the top priorities of the department.
“Quota of women officers is being increased from 15% to 30% in the forthcoming recruitment to encourage more and more women officers become part of the police force and let them not only make progress in their professional careers but also bring in a good name for the police department.”
IG Police was addressing the passing-out parade of the 12th Lady Recruit Course at Police Training College, Chung, here on Monday.
In the 12th Lady Recruit Course, 390 women personnel from different ranges and districts of the province completed the training and passed out, including 11 Masters, 144 Graduates and 204 Intermediate Degree Holder Officers.
The IGP said that the police department is a very good job for women officers so more and more daughters and sisters should become part of the police force.
Inam Ghani said that all the officers and personnel of the police force performing their duty in the field and offices should consider themselves as “servants of the people.”
He further said that the officers who have completed the training should go to the field and treat the public with the same compassionate attitude “as we do with parents, siblings and dear relatives in our homes so that image of police force can be changed and win over hearts of the citizens.”
Later, the IGP visited different parts of Training College Chung and enquired from the trainee officers about their training courses and instructed them to complete the training with full dedication and determination.
Additional IG Training Kanwar Shahrukh, Additional IG Establishment Ali Amir Malik, Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan, Additional IG Safe City Rao Sardar, Additional IG Logistics Shahid Hanif, Additional IG CTD Muhammad Wasim Khan, CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, DIG Training Dr Suleiman Sultan Rana and DIG Headquarters Shehzada Sultan and other officers were also present at passing-out parade.
Meanwhile, IG Police Inam Ghani said that in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister, eradication of drugs from the society and making people instrumental individual of the society who are suffering from the scourge of drugs and living away from the vicissitudes of life is an important duty for which Punjab Police and District Administration have decided to start a pilot project in Lahore.
He said that a major project is being launched from Lahore as a pilot project in collaboration with Lahore Police District Administration to rid Lahore of drug addicts lying on the sidewalks, footpaths around highways, gardens and shrines.
These drug addicts will be relocated to rehabilitation centres set up by the district administration so that they can get rid of drug addiction through rehabilitation programs.
