Punjab Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Wednesday underscored that non-implementation of Corona SOPs can bring about extremely dangerous consequences as prevention of the virus is possible only with precautions.

“The pandemic subsided due to precautionary measures and vaccination but any complacency can lead to an increase in the cases again”, she warned and added people should support the government’s efforts to eradicate the coronavirus, urging them to adopt precautions including wear masks, and maintaining social distance.

Punjab Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid was presiding over an important meeting held to review strictly implement Corona standard operating procedures (SOPs) across the province.

The meeting was attended by Punjab Chief Secretary Jawwad Rafique Malik, Additional Chief Secretary Irum Bukhari, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Secretary Primary Healthcare, Director-General Public Relations and senior civil and military officials while divisional commissioners participated through video link.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief secretary directed that corona tests of passengers coming from abroad must be conducted at the airports and in case of positive test the patient must be kept in quarantine for the specified period.

He also directed the divisional commissioners to strictly implement the SOPs. Secretary Primary Health Sara Aslam told the meeting that more than 2.27 lakh people were vaccinated on Tuesday.
