Armed dacoits allegedly gang-raped an 18 year-old girl in front of her family and made off with her dowry from her house in Chak Dhaban in the limits of Saddr Police in the wee hours of Monday.
According to police quoting the victim girl’s brother Allah Ditta, a gang of eight dacoits barged into his house in the wee hours of Monday and held the family hostage at gunpoint.
They collected valuables from the house including dowry of the girl and remained the house for almost three hours. He told the police that the dacoits tied them with ropes and looted her sister’s dowry, which included 3 buffaloes.
Akkah Ditta said that during the incident, two of the dacoits gang-raped his sister who was to be married after two months in front of the family. “The dacoits tortured us severely when we put resistance and attempted to raise alarms”, he informed.
No case could be registered, nor could any headway be made about the whereabouts the dacoits till filling of this report.
Saddr DSP Amjad Kamboh said that the FIR was being registered but they had no clue about the dacoits so far. PRO to DPO Syed Wahaj Shah was not available for comments.
On the other hand, the family has demanded the Punjab Inspector General of Police to ensure early arrest of the suspects.
Bahawalnagar DPO Muhammad Zafar Buzdar rushed the scene along with the police force on information and started investigation. The DPO vowed to trace and arrest the culprits.
