Islamabad’s Covid-19 positivity drops to 1pc as 34 cases reported after 3,226 tests

First time during third wave federal capital has reported such a decline in cases

The Covid-19 positivity rate in Islamabad has dropped to all time low i.e. 1.00 per cent since the city came under the grip of the third wave.

Not only in terms of new cases but in vaccination too, the city completed score of 500,000 jabs administration.

According to District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia the federal capital showed tremendous results against Covid-19 by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

With regard to vaccination as well as implementation of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) against Covid-19, Islamabad is ahead of other coties.

Against 3,226 tests conducted in the last twenty-four hours, only 34 cases of Covid-19 were reported in the capital.

Positivity has now touched the lowest in the entire third wave i.e. 1.0 per cent, said DHO Dr Zaeem in his tweet adding in vaccination too, Islamabad health department has administered a total of 500,000 which is again ahead of other cities as compared to vaccination according to their population. Keep it up Islamabad, said DHO Dr Zaeem further in his tweet.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Planning & Development and Special Initiative and Chairman of the NCOC Asad Umar has expressed his gratitude to private sectors, NGOs and corporate departments in playing their role and assisting the government for promotion of vaccination.

The minister made this tweet with particular reference to Jazz (Mobilink) collaboration with NCOC for vaccination of the cotizens.

Already a number of camp vaccination centres have been set up at various places, offices and even restaurants have been set up across the capital to facilitate and expedite the vaccination drive.

These include Camp Vaccination Cetnre (CVC) at OGDC, Al-Habibi, Centaurus Shopping Mall and Islamabad Serena Hotel.

At Serena Hotel alone, around 600 staff members have been vaccinated while the raining around 300 will be vaccinated most likely in the current week, said a senior staff member of the hotel while talking to Pakistan Observer.

Asad Umar in his tweet hoped more such examples (of corporate sector’s) collaboration will be made possible in the coming days.
