Among several vaccination centres and camp facilities in rural and urban Islamabad, the Mass Vaccination Centre (MVC) established in the F-9 Park has turned out to be Islamabad residents’ first and foremost choice for vaccination.
On Saturday too, more than around 4,000 persons received either first or the second jab of Covid-19 vaccine from the spacious centre where around 100 male and female health workers are performing duties efficiently.
The average capacity of the MVC, F-9 Park according to the District Health Officer (DHO) is between 7,000 and 8,000 but since these are intensely hot days, the number of visitors to the MVC is relatively low.
The efficient and alert staff of the MVC at the MVC administers Chinese vaccines Sinopharm or Pakistan’s homemade PakVac.
Each individuals visiting for the vaccination is assisted and administered vaccine jabs and the entire process takes hardly 15-20 minutes, said the DHO Dr Zaeem Zia while talking to Pakistan Observer.
Besides Chinese and Pakistani made vaccines, they have now made available Pfizer also at the MVC but it will be administered only to those who already have some diseases/immunocomprom-ised.
“If you want to receive Pfizer vaccine, please come along with complete medical reports (original and photocopy) so that Pfizer could be administered to you,” said Dr Zaeem in a message on Twitter.
Meanwhile, a number of camp vaccination centres have been set up at various organizations, offices and even restaurants have been set up across the capital to facilitate and expedite the vaccination drive.
These include Camp Vaccination Cetnre (CVC) at OGDC, Al-Habibi, Centaurus Shopping Mall and various educational institutions and department.
The Islamabad High Court has also directed its staff and the subordinate judiciary to get vaccinated in 30 days and submit report.
The Federal Capital on Saturday reported 64 new cases and zero death in the last twenty-four hours and with these latest figures, Islamabad’s total number of cases have jumped to 82,065 and fatalities 769.
According to the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) the government wanted to inoculate people at the earliest so that herd immunity could be achieved.
“The walk-in facility of vaccination was provided to the over 70 years age group on March 16, for the over 65 years age group on April 3, for people over 60 years on April 25 and those aged 50 and above were allowed to avail the facility on April 28 whereas those over 40 and over 30 were able to benefit from this facility on May 12 and May 29, respectively,” the spokesperson said.
From June 11, people over the age of 18 have also been allowed to get themselves vaccinated under the walk-in facility.
With this decision, 100pc of the vaccine-eligible population can now avail the walk-in facility at any centre after registration, the spokesperson added.
