As many as 1,500 undergraduate students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad got Ehsaas Scholarships that will help them to fulfil thirst of education, illuminate their hearts with lights of knowledge and excel in life.
The certificate and cheque distribution ceremony was held at the Syndicate Room. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Anas Sarwar Qureshi along with Higher Education Commission USAID Project Director Azhar Ali Khan, and Director Financial Assistance and University Advancement Prof Dr Javed Akhtar distributed the cheaque.
Talking to the students, Dr Anas Sarwar Qureshi urged the students to devote their energies to acquire the knowledge and develop skills that will pave a way for a bright future. He said that innovative ideas were key to excel in the changing world.
He said that the government initiatives of Ehsaas program was a hallmark step as it is reserved for students from low-income families aiming to enable them to aspire for higher education.
He said that the UAF was one of the best universities in the country and recognized globally due to its quality education, research and outreach program.
Azhar Ali Khan said Ehsaas pay special attention to the education of undergraduate students, especially women and girls, from underprivileged families and areas. He said that under the Ehsaas programme, 50 percent quota is reserved for the girls.
He said that the HEC USAID project was making all possible steps for the provision of quality education to the underprivileged youth.
Prof Dr Javed Akhtar said that the UAF is the only institution in the country which by design gives admission to rural background students on quota for their bright future.
He said that financial assistance directorate was taking all out efforts to provide the relief for the deserving students.
