People of Islamabad are real custodians of city: Gen Ehsanul Haq

Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of the Staff Committee (CJCSC) Gen (R) Ehsanul Haq on Monday held the people of Islamabad were the real custodians of the city and the newly-found Capital Citizen Foundation (CCF) would play its part in highlighting various civic and social issues to the authorities in consultation with the residents of Islamabad.
Gen Ehsan was addressing a ceremony in connection with the launch of the Capital Citizens Foundation (CCF) and handing over of some 40 hand-washing sanitizers specially designed to be installed outside the public places, hospitals, bus stands, etc to Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Amir Ahmed Ali on Monday.
These hand-sanitizing machines are designed and prepared by the CCF as part of its citizens-friendly initiatives.
The star-studded ceremony was attended by former IGP Sindh, Dr Muhammad Shoaib Suddle, former Chairman of the CDA Kamran Lashari, former Ambassador of Pakistan to the US Jalil Abbas Jilani, former Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad and many other notable personalities of the town.
People of the city were responsible enough not to tolerate anything that went against the city or its environment.
About the CCF he said, founded in the days of pandemic the foundation would keep people of Islamabad aware and informed about their rights and responsibilities.
While expressing his gratitude to CCF and its organizers, Amir Ahmed Ali said he believed no progress could be made in the city without the participation of the masse.
Although it is a huge task to make the people participate in the development of the city, yet CDA was making efforts to move forward in consultation with the residents and various stakeholders, said the chairman CDA.
Ex-Chairman CDA Kamran Lashari while paying compliments to Amir Ahmed Ali for giving Islamabad a new refurbished look and for upgrading its roads and parks, said an officer could deliver only when he was given free hand to act.
In my 5-year tenure, I was not given any direction from the then President Pervez Musharraf and we at the CDA enjoyed full liberty to work for the uplift of the city, said Lashari.
It goes to the credit of Lashari that he gave the city 7th, 8th and 9th Avenues and eased the city traffic. Lashari said Amir Ahmed Ali had the passion and resolve to serve the city and above all, the fact he was not being dislocated contributed a lot to the city’s uplift.
At the end of the ceremony, CEO of the CCF Dr Muhammad Amjad presented an environment-friendly electric motorbike to CDA Chairman but he gifted it back to the CCF to be used for its civic-friendly initiatives.
