Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the Punjab government is striving hard to improve the governance structure through holistic reforms to ensure prompt services to the people at their doorsteps.
Talking to the media at GC University Lahore here on Monday, Dr Firdous said that CM Usman Buzdar has inaugurated a revolutionary program ‘Khidmat Aap Ki Dehleez Par’ which will improve the service delivery mechanism along with the provision of facilities at the grassroot level.
She said initially, the program will be of three weeks’ duration and includes the cleanliness of cities, towns, rural areas and government buildings and will resolve issues of water drainage swiftly.
The Special Assistant said that a cleanliness week is being celebrated to remove the garbage, repair street lights and remove walk chalking.
Similarly, a week will be reserved for the beautification of parks and green belts, buildings and offices.
Likewise, public toilets, drains, manholes and sewerage lines will be cleaned to improve the quality of life of the common man.
Dr Firdous said that ‘AC Karkardagi’ app and ‘Khidmat Aap Ki Dehleez Par’ app has been designed that can be downloaded from the play store.
A dashboard has also been developed which will monitor the field activities and districts will be categorized according to their performance.
Those failing to deliver will go to their homes while the best performers will be rewarded for their hard work, she said.
Responding to a question, the SACM said the incumbent government is not composed of any brahman or superrich elite but genuine representatives of the people are running the affairs of the state to heal the wounds of the people.
She said that doors of the CM Office are open to all and the government intends to reform the stiff-neck bureaucrats as the performers and deliverers.
The civil servants should open the doors of their offices and hearts to the people to win the support of the people.
The time is over when Babus were slaves to Jatti Umrah. Now they are answerable to the people, she said.
Dr Firdous said that there should be no clash between treasury benches as the supremacy of law has to be ensured according to the merits of facts.
Ali Zafar will review the joint report and the compilation of the report will take time. The PM will make this report public after the final draft.
The Special Assistant advised Shehzad Akbar and Nazir Chohan to avoid giving irresponsible statements as both are like brothers to her.
It is improper to issue statements about the religious affiliation of any person. She asked Nazir Chohan to come up with facts or extend an apology.
Dr Firdous said that Shehbaz Sharif should clear that he is siding with which PDM as ‘P’ has run away and only the Dakeet movement is left.
Shehbaz Sharif is in a fix and I have sympathy towards him, she said. Shehbaz Sharif should come out of illusions to avoid destabilizing the country.
Earlier, addressing a ceremony held to mark the World – No Tobacco Day at GC University Lahore, the Special Assistant said that youth comprises a major chunk of the country’s total population and it is crucial to harness their potential in constructive ways for the development of the country.
Our youth wants to get rid of the rotten system and is out for change.
The SACM said the future of Pakistan is very bright as our youth is playing a leading role in eradicating drugs and other such social evils from society. The young generation is suffering from the scourge of drugs due to social attitudes.
The government is ensuring strict action against the drug supply chains and they will be dealt with an iron hand, concluded the SACM.
