Talking to media persons, Japanese Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda announced to hire Pakistani workers in good numbers and for this purpose he said an agreement would be signed with Pakistani government in a month’s time. The shrinking Japanese population, which according to estimates will further decline by twenty percent by 2040, has compelled it to import skilled workforce from other countries to maintain its economic strength and take forward technological developments the country has achieved over the years.
For this purpose, Japan has already signed agreements with some countries including Nepal this year. Since Pakistan and Japan enjoy excellent relations dating back to 1940, our authorities concerned must use this opportunity to secure its due share in the Japanese market that is expected to induct 3,45,000 foreign workers in the next five years. Given the labour crunch in one of the most technological advanced countries, we understand that this number will further grow up in the years ahead and we need to do proper planning and equip our youth with skills that are in demand in Japan to take full advantage of opportunities there. Firstly Japanese language courses should be started immediately as this is one of the most important requirements for the Japanese visa. For this, the services of NUML and other institutions having expertise in language teaching can be sought.
Also a certificate or a degree in the hand of a person is not sufficient until and unless he/she possesses expertise in the area of his/her study. It is only by producing a capable workforce keeping in view the future demands that we can take our country forward on economic front and secure opportunities for them both at home and abroad. And for this we earnestly need to improve the standard of our educational institutions.
