Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani has said that Punjab Police is performing its duty as a frontline worker for the protection of lives and property of the people during current epidemic.
“Several officers and officials of the police force have lost lives due to Corona in line with duty.”
The IGP said that the ongoing process of corona vaccination should be completed in all the districts of the province as soon as possible so that the police force could perform its duty of service and protection of the people while remaining safe from this contagious epidemic.
He further said that the supervisory officers should complete the corona vaccination of the force under personal supervision and the corona vaccination of the staff posted in the police offices and field formations besides the district police should be completed as soon as possible.
DIG Welfare Agha Muhammad Yousuf told IG Punjab that so far 18146 officers and personnel aged 50 to 60 years and 19279 officers and personnel aged 40 to 50 years have been vaccinated against corona.
He further said that a total of 37425 officers and personnel above 40 years of age have been vaccinated against corona while the remaining force and staff are being vaccinated without any interruption and process of vaccination of officers and officials besides district police like Punjab constabulary, investigation Punjab, special Branch, CTD, Traffic ,SPU and PHP along with other formations is underway in all districts.
IG Punjab stressed upon to ensure implementation of SOPs in all cases, face mask should be considered an integral part of the uniform while hand sanitization should also be taken care of.
He further said that the health and life of the police officers and officials and their families is of utmost importance to the police department as only by staying healthy we can better fulfill our responsibility of serving and protecting the people.
