Islamabad’s weekly positivity drops by 3pc

WHO country representative visits I-9 vaccination centre,
expresses satisfaction over arrangements

The weekly positivity rate in the federal capital declined almost by 3 per cent, from 5.94 to 2.46 as the federal capital saw 109 deaths in last twenty-four hours on Sunday.

According to DHO Dr Zaeem Zia corona virus situation has significantly improved in the capital during the last week.

Two deaths in the last twenty-four hours took the total number of deaths to 757 while the tally of cases has surged to 81,116.

Besides vaccination drive in Islamabad is in full swing and 18,000 persons were vaccinated during the last twenty-four hours.

Country Representative WHO, Dr Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala on Sunday visited Covid-19 vaccination centre in I-9 and expressed satisfaction over arrangements and quick services there.

A day earlier Islamabad and Rawalpindi district maintained downwards trend in Covid-19 cases as the capital had reported 80 cases and 59 tested positive in the Pindi district.

Since the outbreak of the virus in the capital, the highest number of deaths – 226 – (138 males and 88 females) were reported in the age group of 60-69, followed by 188 (128 males and 60 females) in 70-79, 132 (87 males and 45 females) in 50-59, 101 (64 males and 37 females) in 80-89, 25 (13 males and 12 females) in 30-39, 21 (12 males, nine females) in 90-99, four (one male and three females) in 20-29 and one each (male) in 0-9 and 10-19.

During the last 24 hours, 4,225 tests were conducted in the capital and 80 were found infected, with a positivity rate of 1.89pc.

Besides, 528 patients also recovered, they added.
There are now 5,981 active cases in the capital – 141 hospitalised, 130 on oxygen and 11 on ventilators.

The remaining active patients are isolated at their homes.
Officials said 20 of the new patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 19 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 38 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), 26 in Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH), three in Hearts International Hospital, four Bilal Hospital and two in Begum Akhter Rukhsana Hospital.
