Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Commissioner Syed Javed Iqbal Bokhari has said the OPC was working hard to protect the rights of overseas
Pakistanis.
During a meeting held here to review the performance of the OPC district committees, deputy commissioners and district police Officials, he said that overseas Pakistanis played a pivotal role in boosting the economy of the country by sending
hefty amount of foreign exchange. All necessary steps were being taken to make OPC more effective as overseas Pakistanis attached high hopes with OPC, the commissioner added. He directed to take disciplinary action against the officers not complying the directions given by Chief Secretary Punjab Yousaf Naseem Khokar and Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Sardar Aijaz Jaffar.
Javed Iqbal Bokhari also directed the officers concerned to pursue the cases pending in the Lahore High Court and civil courts. Earlier, he had instructed the legal wing to work in close coordination with Punjab Information and technology
Board (PITB) for developing a software.
During the meeting, OPC Director Admin Tayyab Farid briefed regarding resolved complaints, status of referred complaints and other administrative matters. Over 102 complaints have been resolved in a week while 295 complaints have been referred to the concerned departments and districts for early disposal.
