Dowry issues

The dowry system is a great evil that still exists in Pakistan. It is an act of discrimination against unmarried girls, whose values are defined based on the prices of their respective dowries.

It is an example of greed and selfishness and is a great curse, especially for parents who belong to lower middle class. This is the reason why people get depressed and feel cursed at the birth of a daughter.

Dowry creates imbalance in the status of women and it affect women mentally and physically Dowry is also a cause of endorsing greed and conflicts in the society.

Majority of people are involved in dowry system whether they are educated or illiterate. People should refuse to marry when dowry is demanded or given. Eliminating this tradition is need of the time as it is against the very spirit of Islam.

Women become mentally affected as they could not meet amount of dowry and often in-laws torture them over this issue.

Women’s rights have been exploited in the name of dowry system. So many girls in Pakistan stay unmarried because their parents cannot meet the demands.

Expensive education

The narrative of our education system, ‘the more you pay better educational facilities you have’.

Only privileged students can afford higher education and many intelligent and competent students discontinue their education because they can’t afford expenses.

University education has become a luxury now, as private education has become very expensive.

The government must pay attention to this growing problem and should lower the fees and give scholarships to students for higher education.

Water shortage

For the last few months, people in this city despite paying all types of bills and taxes are encountering problem of water shortage.

Most of the time, water pressure is low and as water is allowed for a short time underground water tanks hardly get filled. We are facing the torture of hot summer without proper water supply.

As summer has set in it is really difficult for us to manage with this miserably low quantity of water. We are forced to purchase water tankers from our own pockets.

The schedule of water supply is completely disturbed. It is our right to have proper supply of water as we are paying water tax regularly.

Water board must look into this matter at the earliest and direct officials concerned to restore regular water supply without any further delay and take suitable steps to solve this problem.

*****
Karachi with over 17 million inhabitants is the largest city in Pakistan. Citizens of Karachi face lot of problems on daily basis, which also include problems of meagre water supply, transportation and above all worst law and order situation in the city.

Water is one of the primary needs and unfortunately availability of this essential requirement is not sufficiently supplied to fulfil the needs of this city.

This problem becomes even more brutal in summer season. Government has to take necessary steps to solve this problem, as quantity of water supplied is hardly enough for few hours.

In some areas huge amount of water is wasted while in some areas people even struggle to diminish their thirst. Moreover, water tanker mafia is another cause of shortage of water in Karachi, as water distribution system is dysfunctional due to state negligence.

Mental health awareness

Mental health is just as important as physical health. In this challenging time everyone should take care of his/her mental health because of on-going pandemic.

Just because of this deadly virus, offices and schools are closed and everyone is working from home and not seeing family and friends.

More importantly financial insecurities have made it harder to be happy and relax in this time and it is affecting badly mental health.

Doing some simple activities provide comfort and relaxation during this tough time. Do something that you are good at, read a book, show interest in family member’s hobbies, cuddle your toddler, listen each other, pray five times, take your time from exhausted routine and take a deep breath for few minutes between work, give yourself what you need to feel better.

These few activities may make better and help people to take better care of their mental health during this pandemic.

Trust deficit

Trusting a person who does not deserve it is indeed loosing one’s self esteem. Trust is an important tool for healthy relationship and happy life.

Foremost important is to have complete trust and faith in God and after that have faith, trust, confidence in one another.

It is the only way we can communicate and dwell peaceful life. Without faith there is no communication, there is no love.

To be honest, the fact that people trust you gives a lot of power. Having another person’s trust is more powerful than all other management techniques put together.

Don’t break anyone’s trust because once it is lost, it becomes nearly impossible to get it back again.

There are two reasons why we don’t trust people. First we don’t know them, second we know them.

When you fully trust someone without any doubt, you finally get one of two results: a person for life or a lesson for life.

Always trust your first impression. If you genuinely feel in your heart and soul that something is wrong, it usually is because your inner is always right.

Trusting someone means that you think they are reliable, you have confidence in them and you feel safe with them physically and emotionally.

People ask me why is it so hard to trust people. I ask them why is it so hard to keep a promise. Be careful whom you trust, the devil was once an angel.
