PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government clarified on Monday that it had not hired anyone as an expert on cryptocurrency.

The clarification comes after TV host Waqar Zaka shared a notification dated February 2021 on Twitter, stating that he was hired as an expert on digital currency in an advisory committee.

“This committee stands dissolved after the concerned Advisor to CM on ST&IT also the Chairperson of the committee resigned from his portfolio,” the provincial government said in a tweet.

Last month, Advisor to KP CM on Science and Technology Ziaullah Bangash resigned from his post.

“Submitted my resignation from post of Advisor to CM KP. Some unavoidable circumstances in my constituency have forced me to take this step. I have a lot of responsibilities and I want to keep up to expectations of people of my constituency & reserve my entire attention for them,” he wrote on Twitter.
