City experienced very hot weather as mercury soars to 42C

The people of Karachi on Sunday took a sigh of relief after the Cyclone Tauktae, which was 1220km away from Pakistani coastal areas, has changed its direction.
The speed of gusty winds in the city was recorded between 100 and 120 kilometer per hour.
Dust/thunderstorm with few moderate to heavy falls will continue in Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tharparker, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot & Sanghar districts during 17- 20 May.
On the other hand, the Managing Director at Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has established an emergency center in the wake of possible torrential rains under the influence of the Cyclone Tauktae, where public complaints will be received and addressed.
The water board chief has also directed the officers concerned to take immediate actions on the issues reported by the people.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had alerted all the agencies in view of the cyclone and directed to remove billboards in the city.
A meeting regarding the cyclone was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sindh in which important decisions were taken. Shah had directed the Commissioner Karachi, KMC and DMC to clean the city’s drains.
He also directed to the cantonment board to be ready to deal with any developing situation. Fishermen have also been alerted to not venture into the deep sea between May 17 and 20.
Meanwhile, the city experienced a very hot weather as mercury had soared to 42ºCelsius, said the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday.
Dusty winds blew in the port city and the adjoining areas at a speed of 39 kilometers per hour. The Met Office forecast severe hot and humid weather in the city for the next three days.
“Presently the winds blowing at 39 KM speed could enhance upto 48 kilometers per hour,” according to PMD.
Meanwhile, the PMD forecast that the coastal areas including Karachi have no threat from Arabian Sea Cyclone Tauktae.
