Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar congratulated his son Anas Sarwar for getting elected as a member of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) by the people of Glasgow.

Chaudhry Sarwar said: “Congratulations to you and your colleagues for getting elected as a member of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) by the people of Glasgow.

Chaudhry Sarwar also said, “I remain grateful to Glaswegians who gave me the honour to become the 1st Muslim MP in GreatBritain and first Minority MP in Scotland.”

The TV channel reported that political, religious and social personalities have congratulated Governor Punjab on the success of his son.

Anas Sarwar vowed that he would fight the case of other Pakistanis and the people of Glasgow and he was happy that as a Pakistani he is successfully advancing in British politics.

Chaudhry Sarwar said that overseers Pakistanis are shining the name of the country in every field. According to BBC, Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar said his party was “on a journey” back, despite losing seats in the Scottish election. The party took 22 seats which were two down on the 2016 Holyrood result.

“It is the lowest total for Scottish Labour since devolution saw the creation of the Scottish Parliament 22 years ago.

However, Mr Sarwar, who has only been in his leadership role for 10 weeks, said the party was making progress,” the international media reported.

He maintained Scottish Labour “have credibility again” after a “positive and energetic campaign”.

Mr Sarwar added: “We are back on the pitch and people aren’t embarrassed anymore to say they vote Labour.” He also pledged to work with other parties to prioritise the country’s recovery from the Covid crisis.
