Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani on Monday said that modern policing is not possible without effective use of information technology.
Therefore, Punjab Police is focusing on modernizing its working system to curb crime and improve public service delivery system.
Inam Ghani said that the IT Division of Punjab Police under the leadership of DIG Waqas Nazir has introduced more than a dozen projects and service apps in the last one year, which have not only provided special facility in providing service delivery to citizens but also, overall system of police working is also getting faster and faster day by day.
IG Police Inam Ghani expressed these views while speaking at a ceremony held in honour of the IT branch staff.
The IGP said that effective monitoring should be continued for up-gradation of other projects including Police Station Record Management System, Human Resource Management System and Criminal Record Management System and fulfilment of all matters as per the issued SOPs in order to ensure immediate solution of citizens problems.
He further said that the services of IT branch in modernizing the working system of Punjab Police is commendable while Punjab Police is focusing on IT projects to improve its operational system as well as public service delivery.
He directed that the IT team should continue to work for the completion of useful projects with the same enthusiasm and spirit in the future while the department would continue to encourage them.
Later, the IGP distributed certificates of appreciation and shields to all staff of IT branch. Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan, DIG Operations Sohail Sukhera, AIG Development Capt (r) Muhammad Ali Zia and other officers were also present on the occasion.
