Vice President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday visited the residence of the former Chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and senior journalist Absar Alam and inquired about his health.
Absar Alam was attacked and shot injured by unidentified assailant(s) on March 20 while he was strolling in a park close to his house in Sector F-11.
The daughter of Nawaz Sharif was accompanied by her husband Capt (R) Muhammad Safdar, former Information Minister Pervez Rashid, spokesperson of the PML-N Marriyum Aurangzeb, parliamentarians and office-bearers of the PML-N.
The PML-N leader remained at the house of Absar Alam for some time and assured him of her party’s full support.
It is unfortunate, said Maryam Nawaz, that those who raise a voice against injustice, corruption and hypocrisy of the PTI-government have to face such a situation.
In democratic societies, you cannot even think of this, she said while referring to the attack on Alam.
“You are a strong voice of Pakistan and every Pakistani with a conscience stands by you in your struggle,” said Maryam Nawaz to Absar Alam before leaving. Earlier, on her arrival, Absar’s family received Maryam Nawaz.
