Opp wants to halt accountability, economic uplift: Ch Sarwar

Punjab Governor Ch Mohammad Sarwar on Sunday said that the opposition parties wanted to halt accountability process and economic uplift of the country. Talking to a PTI’s delegation at Governor’s House here, he said that opposition should wait till general elections 2023 instead of staging protests as people of the country had given a mandate to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for five years to serve them.
He asked the opposition parties that why they had not organized any march to express solidarity with innocent Kashmir’s and said that opposition should take out a march to raise voice of Kashmir’s and expose Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
Chaudhry Sarwar said that opposition could not see the country on way to progress and prosperity so that they were deciding to stage protest and sit-in but they should refrain from damaging national unity and solidarity.
The Governor said that opposition’s any attempt to derail the government by protest would foil as the PTI government would complete its constitutional term. The next general elections would be held on scheduled time, he maintained.
Governor said, the PTI government had to face a number of challenges when it came into power, but comprehensive policies of the PTI government stabilized the economic situation and saved the country from possible default. The government was putting efforts to strengthen the Parliament and other national institutions, he said and added that it was among top priorities of the government to ensure justice for the people.
The Governor said that federal and provincial governments were striving hard to overcome poverty, inflation and other challenges for raising living standards of the people.
The PTI delegation was led by Provincial Parliamentary Secretary Livestock Shehbaz Ahmad, MPA Abida Raja and PTI Member Bilal Cheema.
