Kisan Cards to transform agriculture sector

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday announced to bring constitutional amendment for the formation of South Punjab province.
Addressing an inauguration ceremony of the South Punjab secretariat, Imran Khan said that South Punjab would become a province and for that, they would move towards bringing a constitutional amendment in the Parliament.
He said that it has been decided that South Punjab would get its job quota as per its population.
“Construction of the secretariat will also help people as they will now not have to go to Lahore for resolution of their issues,” Imran Khan said adding that after inauguration of Multan Secretariat, he would also inaugurate Bahawalpur secretariat soon.
The prime minister was all praise for Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar during the ceremony and said he wanted a man for Punjab, who could develop the province as per his vision and whose everything was for Pakistan and inside Pakistan.
“I assure you that this would not have happened previously in Punjab,” he said adding that previous leaders invested in foreign assets and kept their children abroad while Usman Buzdar established shelter homes for people who used to sleep on footpaths within days of being asked.
Prime Minister Imran khan also launched Kisan Cards for farmers here Monday and said that technology enabled cards will decrease corruption.
Imran Khan said he has decided to supervise the agriculture sector.
“I am happy with the launch of the ‘Kisan Card’ step for modern agriculture and it will transform Pakistan as farmers are the backbone of the economy.
The more you step towards the technology, there will be less corruption,” Imran Khan said.
“I personally talked to the Chinese and included agriculture in the CPEC to inculcate this sector growth,” he added.
Imran Khan said the government is also revamping research institutions in the country.
“The government could also give loan to farmers via Kisan Card and currently we have increased Rs1000 DAP subsidy on these cards.”
The government has allocated two billion rupees for repairing canals that will save the water in future, he added.
“In our tenure, farmers got additional Rs1100 billion in the form of wheat support price and increased prices of milk and other commodities.
The private sector is also being introduced at union council to include latest trade practices,” he said.
Imran Khan also praised Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for the Kisan Card initiative.
