Enforcement of laws
It is human nature that fear of law and penalties imposed, is the dominant factor to inculcate a culture of following rules.
When abeyance of law is at the discretion of individuals, then a society degenerates and chaos is likely to occur.
In countries with Rule of Law, nobody can dare encroach state land, forest, or amenity plots, nor convert green agriculture land into housing societies, under garb of welfare, as is done in Pakistan by the powerful elite.
Instead of wasting money on repetitive advertisement of COVID-19 SOP campaigns in the media, if the government had strictly imposed fines on those who do not wear a mask, thousands of lives could have been saved.
In Europe, USA, Singapore, UAE etc., people strictly obey traffic rules etc., because violation involves heavy fines, in addition to restrictions on driving license.
In the USA a car has to stop momentarily even at 2 AM on a desolate street with a Red Stop sign, adjacent to a school.
Any violation detected by a camera, involves a fine of $500 imposed, along with other penalties.
Everybody must stop at a Red Traffic Light, with the exception of Ambulances and Fire Brigade.
In the UK even the PM’s car has to stop on a red signal. The only exception is the Queen.
Nobody can dare break the queue at an airport immigration line, with exception of handicapped people. There was a time when streets of Singapore, Bangkok etc.
were littered with waste, people would spit anywhere, now they are clean, because of the cameras installed and heavy fines.
Not paying Income Tax in the US is a serious crime with imprisonment, extending to 40 years. And there are neither amnesty schemes nor tax-free benefits for paid elite.

Duty of legal fraternity
IT is moral obligation of legal fraternity to guide and help the State for a respectable conclusion of the current situation in Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s case proceeding in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Pakistan was founded under the command of Quaid-i-Azam and his trustworthy Lieutenants like Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan, Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, I. I. Chundrigarh, Qazi Muhammad Isa and many others notables.
Qazi Faez Isa is an eminent member of the legal fraternity right from his entry in the Bar. He belongs to a noble family.
His father Qazi Isa was the pioneer of All-India Muslim League and President of the party in Balochistan.
He was the youngest member of working committee of All-India Muslim League appointed by Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He represented Balochistan in the historic Lahore session of the League in March 1940.
He played a key role in the ‘Vote for Pakistan Movement’ and in the historical referendum of the then North-West Frontier Province (Now KP) along with Maulana Abdul Hamid Badayouni and Pir Sahab Manki Sharif.
Qazi Isa’s nephew Jahangir Ashraf Qazi is an outstanding diplomat who has held several national and international appointments as Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, The United States, UN special Envoy to Iraq, UN representative in Sudan.
He was Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India and Ambassador to Syria, East Germany, Russia and China. He had diplomatic assignments in Copenhagen, Tokyo, Cairo, Tripoli and London.
Belonging to such a respectable family, Qazi Faez Isa’s sentiments in circumstances he is facing are understandable.
Qazi Faez Isa is honest, dauntless, patriotic and God fearing. These are four attributes of a Judge and a good citizen.

Discard old syllabus
The books being taught in SSC still carry same chapters, stories and topics that our parents studied way back in 70s. Mr. Chips is still part of the curriculum and was also in times of my grandfather.
Secondly Cambridge level students are highly vocal and practical as compared to students who opted for SSC and HSC system.
The problem begins when these students sit in the same room in universities but have a different level of understanding.
There are students in universities who barely know how to operate a computer or how to use Microsoft word.
It couldn’t have been the same if they were taught how to operate and function a computer instead of cramming up their minds with what is CPU and what is motherboard.
Similarly, apart from federal board in all other boards of the country, mathematics paper is in constituent of asking definitions of mathematical terms which is ironic.
Students may not know how to draw an acute angle but they surely know how to describe it in words to attain full marks.

Rising street crimes
Karachi is a very populated city and as a result street crimes are increasing day by day. Criminals move freely and run away after committing street crimes. It appears that many criminal gangs have become active in our city.
People don’t feel safe anymore while walking on roads with their mobile phones and amount.
The feeling of insecurity is growing among citizens. No one is safe from robbers who snatch people belongings.
It is responsibility of the government to take urgent action and take steps to root out this crime situation and provide safety to people.

Should we help India?
India must be extended help by us, not just because we are neighbours but on humanitarian basis. India is facing worst time of this pandemic. People are in very critical condition.
Patients are dying and being treated on roads while those who died are being cremated on roads because shamshan ghaats doesn’t have space for more, this is really heart wrenching.
As population is less aware of taking and accepting SOPs, the Corona Virus is spreading rapidly.
In third world countries we don’t have such kind of medical facilities as western world has.
Moreover in over populated countries it becomes unmanageable for inefficient governments to face such situations effectively.
In this problematic situation we need to cooperate with each other on humanitarian basis.
Prime minister Pakistan Imran Khan expressed solidarity with India in order to tackle the dangerous wave of COVID-19.
In this scenario we must help and cooperate with India without thinking that we are rival states.
Many NGOs around the globe including Pakistan are taking initiative to send aid to India so they can survive in this hyper wave of COVID-19.
