Lockdown is no solution
Lockdown, vaccination and curfew are not the solution to stop the spread of Corona Virus.
We should drink hot water three to four times a day, inhale steam at least two to three times a day, wear a mask whenever we step out of the house, keep social distance, avoid huge crowds and follow SOPs (Standard Operation Procedures).
Also, if you are above 45 years of age, please take the Covid-19 vaccines. They are a ‘must’. In my opinion, every citizen of the country should take it.

PM on rape culture
Recently, Prime Minister Imran Khan was asked about the increasing rape cases in Pakistan during a live phone-call session.
While answering, he tilted more towards the victim blaming by explaining how this vile issue exists primarily because of the baypardegi in our society.
Respected PM, we’ve seen cases with minors, women wearing veils, even with dead bodies.
Ever rising cases in mosques, schools and hospitals during broad daylight and at night.
Nothing changes anything, neither the place nor the dressing. A rapist remains a rapist anyplace he goes.
It’s unfortunate for a PM to be promoting such ideas. We’ll never move towards a better tomorrow if we don’t change our mentality.

DHA Valley affairs
Through columns of your esteemed newspaper, I request COAS Gen Qamar Bajwa, to kindly intervene in the matters of DHA Valley Islamabad.
Me and my wife, both citizens of Pakistan, having complete faith in our armed forces, applied in general balloting advertised by DHA Valley Islamabad for 8 Marla plots in 2008.
DHA is a statutory organisation of repute, given its association with armed forces of Pakistan.
We were informed by courier service that our names are amongst those who are successful.
Thereafter DHA Valley Islamabad has been sending us letters, through courier, before every due date for installments due, along with information about development work being carried out and the importance to pay all installments regularly through Askari Bank.
The first installment was paid on 6 December 2008, and 11nth paid on 28 May 2011.
We were informed through courier service by letter that the 12th Installment due on 29 August 2011, is deferred without any surcharge for all members who have paid 11 installments, till further notice by this office.
Thereafter I have not received any letter despite having made several telephone calls and emails sent to the published address. A relative, who was a Brigadier, told me that re-balloting had been initiated.
We managed to deposit 12th Installment on 28 December 2018, along with surcharge, although we had not received any such notice, as was the practice.
A Computer – Generated Accounts Statement, dated January 8, 2019 (Time 12:30:31) that all payments have been made is also in our possession.
I hope that you will intervene and restore the confidence and trust which is so essential between citizens and their armed forces.

Eroding mores
We are passing through tumultuous time as a nation because we have drifted away from moral standards of a cultured and civilised nation.
To my mind we, over period of time, have erected certain notions to defend and somehow compensate morally corrupt practices perpetrated by individuals in our society.
And some of these fallacious notions are ‘yeh Pakistan hai,’ ‘yeh dunyadari hai’ and the list goes on and on.
The point here is that that we are just draining away our moral and ethical capital just to keep pace with society or to gain some material benefits by infringing upon high moral ideals not only of our religion but of our culture as well.
Just have a look on the price of adulterated milk and pure milk, you will get the essence of the message that I wanted to convey to every nook and corner of our society that morally we are declining sharply.
Ramazan gives us opportunity to purify our souls from moral corruption but are we ready for it as a nation? I think we should stop hiding behind these so-called notions to avoid moral and ethical bankruptcy.

True kings
When the word King is heard, what is the first thing that comes to the mind? Well for me the first thing that comes to my mind is a crown, jewels, luxuries, leisure and lots of guards.
If we look back 500 years ago, the time when instead of a president, prime minister and a cabinet there existed kings, wazir and his court.
When looking back we see that there were no fans, lights, air conditioners or a heater. Moreover, there were no cell phones or even cars.
Instead of all these luxuries that we enjoy today, candles and lanterns were used for light, horses and camels for travelling and messages were sent in the form of a letter either through a horseman or via pigeon.
Hence, it seems that the people of the present time are much richer and enjoy an opulent lifestyle than the kings and queens who lived back then.
The life in the era of the kings and queens was much slower than today’s world that operates at great speed and the reason behind this is advancement in technology.
Humans have discovered and invented so much for their ease and comfort that it seems that today’s generation is real king and queen.
