Salahuddin Haider

Minister of Interior Sheikh Rashid had revealed in a TV interview about a week ago that Prime Minister will visit European countries soon, and then Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said in a television talk that he may also be accompany during forthcoming visit of Prime Minister to Holy land of Saudi Arabia.

Perhaps Imran has been has been so kind hearted and prayers five times a day. Such a transformation could well be at God’s command or His benign guidance, for he is honest and man of integrity.

But he came to power in 2018 on votes for arresting those involved in loot and plunder of Government money, which is pubic exchequer, but unfortunately the pace in accountability courts is so slow that once he complained that if courts supported him and with public guidance, he can turn the table.

Already the turn has begun to take place, though at nominal pace. But from negative growth of GDP of —014 percent it has already risen to 1.5 percent.

He is not to be blamed last year’s heavy rainfall damaged crops, and a wheat, cotton, rice and sugar exporting countries, has not to blame.

It is his bad luck, for apart from slow growth of agriculture sector, Corona or Covid-19 made things worse him.

In this a large part is non-cooperation by senior bureaucrats, who as some minister have pointed out were either promoted to higher positions by the PPP government whose the then chairman Asif Ali Zardari, became President and had powers at the Center and in all four provinces, winning sympathy vote in 2008 elections because of sympathy votes in the wake of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination in December 2007.

It was just same situation when Indira Gandhi was assassinated by his own security guard on in October 1984.

I was there in Sialkot covering for my newspaper India-Pakistan one day international. Two of their batsmen were scoring freely against our bowlers, when Radio Pakistan broke the news.

Before that it was just hearsay. Indian journalist Like Rajan Bala, and R Mohan were also covering the match for their respective newspapers when they whispered in my ears that “Sallu) my nickname which all my close friends and relatives call me by this nickname. The Indian journalists packed their typewriters and started leaving for their hotel.

The Indian team under precautionary orders from Sialkot’s higher administrative officials, was driven home to their hotel.

They could not wait for the Indian innings to complete. The situation was dangerous and I could see people their dancing on the outer space of the ground where match was played, distributing sweets, which is regrettable.

But obviously Imran during his visit to European countries and to Saudi Kingdom will invite them for investment in factories and tourism.

If the situation improves which airlines, which had packed up long time ago because of bomb blasts and suicidal deaths, even during Holy month of Ramazanul Mubarak.

This scribe was a minister of information then (2002-2007) under altaf’s request and General Pervez Musharraf’s request.

Already Faisalabad Textile mills are overburdened with orders for which instead of lay offs, they now require additional labour.

Imran Khan has gone on record to predict that current year will see the uplift of the country’s face. Let us hope and wish that his dreams are realized well in time.

His shortcomings, not withstanding, he should task his minister that He wanted everything to be done with two to three days.

Decisions are being taken, almost every day without fail there either cabinet meeting or on one or more subjects are taking place, but the pace of implementation is slow.

PM must command his ministers that he wanted results in two to three days, maximum in a week’s time.

He should learn, for he quotes from history. But he should also learn from Z A Bhutto, how he worked for 10 to 12 hours, seeing official files around a.m of at dead of night, till early morning, for he suffered from Insomnia.

But Imran must follow suit, or screen out those inefficient, incompetent, or not supporting the present government. This is a must which he should follow.
