Two minor girls died of measles here on Wednesday while dozen others affected of the disease was under treatment at various hospitals of tehsil Kandhkot of district Kashmore. Non-availability of anti-measles vaccine at hospitals was adding to the problem.
According to details, two minor girls including four-year-old Asifa daughter of Bashir Ahmed Gunior and one-year-old Hifza daughter of Shabir Ahmed Gunio hailing from Eidgah Mohallah was Kandhkot were detected with measles some one week earlier and were under treatment.
However, due to non-availability of anti-measles vaccine, the two girls stated to be daughters of two real brothers could not be treated appropriately and expired.
Meanwhile, dozens of other children affected of measles were admitted at various hospitals.
Non-availability of anti-measles vaccine was further adding to the problem.
The local people have demanded of the district administration and health authorities for sending health teams to affected areas and ensuring anti-measles vaccine at hospitals to save the precious lives.
Last week, two children including of Mirani community including five-year Abdullah and four-year Fatima had all fell prey to measles but no action has been taken yet to save the precious lives.—INP
