Says govt taking effective steps to provide edibles at subsidized rates

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Monday termed the law and order situation across the province satisfactory.

CM Usman Buzdar vowed to maintain the writ of the state and stressed that the law will take its course if it is violated.

The chief minister said in his statement that an impartial inquiry of the unpleasant incident will be conducted.

He said there is no room for violence in Islam which is a religion of peace. No society allows violent behavior and extremist approach creates unrest, he added.

The chief minister said that police, Rangers and all other agencies are performing their duties effectively.

The law and order situation in Punjab is satisfactory except for one place in Lahore where some elements have blocked the road, he maintained.

CM Buzdar appealed to the public not to pay heed to reports from social media and other unverified media and added that responsible government sources were keeping the people informed about the overall law and order situation in the province.

Usman Bazdar said that I assure the people of Punjab that protection of life and property of the citizens and rule of law are among the duties of the government and it is being carried out effectively.

He ensured the people of the province that government will protect their lives and properties at any cost.

Usman Buzdar said the protection of the lives and properties of citizens is the foremost responsibility of the state and it will fulfill its duty at any cost.

Everybody is equal in front of the law and no one will be allowed to challenge the writ of the state, the CM asserted.

Meanwhile, the chief minister said that the provincial government has given Rs5.5 billion special package to provide substantial relief to the people in the month of Ramazan and Punjab is the only province where fruits of Ramazan relief package were being given to the customers.

The CM said that Rs2,400 million subsidy was given for the provision of flour at a subsidized rate and many other steps are also taken to provide visible relief to the people.

He said a ten-kilogram flour bag and sugar are available at Rs375 and Rs65 per kg, respectively. Meanwhile, 1.5 lakh ton wheat stocks are allocated for the Ramadan package, he added.

Similarly, the ministers and advisors are deputed to watch the Ramadan bazaars and I am also monitoring the field situation, he said.

It is sanguine that the crackdown against hoarders and profiteers is yielding positive results and the government will not sit idle till the complete elimination of price-hike mafia, concluded the CM.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar held an important meeting with provincial ministers including Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Dr Yasmeen Rashid, Dr Muhammad Akhtar Malik, Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi, Sardar Asif Nakai and Hashim Jawan Bakht to discuss various matters including providing relief to the masses, Ramadan Package, cleanliness situation and the progress on development schemes.

The CM directed the ministers to conduct field visits for monitoring the steps taken for providing relief to the citizens. The Punjab government has initiated Ramadan Package and agri-fare price shops are set up in Ramadan bazaars.

The government will continue to take every step to provide relief to the general public, he added.
