Vaccination of 50-year old and above starts tomorrow

The federal capital’s hospitals are facing acute burden of Covid-19 patients as the city reported six deaths in the last twenty-four hours and 523 new patients.
Fearing Oxygen shortage for the incoming patients the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has halted the scheduled operations.
A day earlier on Sunday night, Oxygen pressure was recorded low at the ventilators reserves for Covid-19 that prompted the hospital to take the decision, said a senior doctor of the hospital.
“We have stopped Oxygen supply to those Intensive Care Units (ICUs) where currently no patient is admitted and the purpose of stopping Oxygen supply is to prepare ourselves for the incoming patients of Covid-19,” said the doctor while talking to Pakistan Observer on Monday.
Currently, the hospital has fixed the daily supply of Oxygen at 7,000 litres which for the time being is stated to be sufficient to meet the needs of the patients, he further said.
Persons aged 50 and above are eligible for vaccination w.e.f April 21 (tomorrow) and they are required to get registered with the NADRA in this regard by sending their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number to 1166.
This was informed by the District Health officer of Islamabad Dr Zaeem Zia while responding to a query on social media on Monday.
In order to register, one has to send one’s CNIC number, without dashes or spaces, to 1166. Then they can also register on the government’s website nims.nadra.gov.pk.
After registration, the DHO said, you will be given two doses of the Sinopharm vaccine with a 21 days gap.
The vaccination through the government is free of cost. Islamabad on Monday reported a relatively low number of new cases in a day i.e., 523 and six deaths.
With this latest addition, the federal capital’s total numbers of cases have reached 70,079 and deaths 642.
For convenience of the people, the District Health Department has set up around 15 vaccination centres across the city where a walk-in facility for free vaccination is being provided to the elderly people and the frontline health workers.
They include Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), CDA Hospital G-6, Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital, CDA Medical Centre, G-9/4, Kulsoom International, Maroof Hospital F-10, NIRM, Polyclinic, RHC Tarlai, RHC Bhara Kahu, RHC Sihala, Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital, Federal Govt Hospital and IHITC.
