Says development being carried out in all districts of Punjab on equal footing

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar on Thursday said that the opposition parties are struggling for their political survival and will not resign from assemblies.

“The government has no threat from them as all institutions are on the same page for the development and prosperity of the country.

We want to take the country forward. He said that the development projects are being implemented in all the districts of Punjab on equal footing.

Schemes and the provision of basic facilities like health and education is the top priority of the government.

Governor Ch Sarwar was addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of an Rs3 billion project to carpet Sahiwal Road from Lahore on Thursday and was talking to the media.

General Manager National Highway Iftikhar Ahmad Sajid, Director National Highway Mohammad Imran Khan, Deputy Director National Highway Rana Muhammad Nadeem, Chairman Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority Dr Shakeel Ahmad, Vice-chairman of overseas commission Punjab Waseem Ramey and Rai Hassan Nawaz were present among others on the occasion.

Appreciating the initiatives of Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed, Governor Ch Sarwar said that work on the project for construction and repair of all GT roads in Punjab has started, while a Rs9 billion motorway from Samundari to Sahiwal is also being planned which will be linked to the motorway from Lahore to Karachi.

He said that previous governments had given priority to only a few cities in terms of development projects, but the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan has initiated development projects for the people in urban as well as rural areas, adding he said that practical steps are being taken to ameliorate health and education sector.

Ch Sarwar said, “I have been saying from the first day that there is no unity and consensus in the opposition and today opposition parties are forming a front against each other.”

He said that the opposition still has time to acknowledge the public mandate of the PTI government and play its role in strengthening the country’s democracy instead of destabilizing the government and the country.

Governor Punjab said that the PTI government is working expeditiously on Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme to provide shelter to the homeless and Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme project in Lahore on April 12, adding that houses will be provided to the people including government employees on easy instalments without any political discrimination.

Under the Ehsas program, the federal government is supporting the low-income sections of the population.

The government is utilizing all resources to overcome the challenges and provide relief to the public in every sector.
