Award and cash prizes for gallant police personnel

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jamilur Rehman has appreciated the professional and gallant response of the police team that rescued two children through successful operation against the person who had taken them hostage at gun point in Bhara Kahu area a few days ago.

Following the operation, the IGP had announced award and cash prizes for the members of police team.

In this context, a graceful ceremony was held in the honor of the police team at Police Line Headquarters which was attended by besides the IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamilur Rehman, DG Safe City Muhammad Saleem, DIG (Headquarters) Kamran Adil, all SSPs, AIG (Operations), policemen who participated in the operation, parents of children and notables of the area.

IGP Islamabad awarded the SSP (Operations) and his whole team for demonstrating gallant attitude while commendation certificates were given to two citizens for their cooperation with police team.

Addressing on the occasion Qazi Jamil said that SSP (Operations) and his team handled the critical situation in a professional manner.

He said that they deserved appreciation as two innocent lives were saved through prompt action.

The IGP said that morale of the force goes up when their seniors appreciate them.
He also thanked the locals of the area who cooperated it was necessary for effective policing.

“I am proud of the police team” the IGP said and hoped further effective policing measures to curb activities of anti-social elements.

Police, last week tried to arrest a suspect but he fled to a nearby street firing at them.
The accused named Qamar took shelter in a house and held two little children hostage.

However, the police team led by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer, SP Captain (R) Hamza and ASP Asad reached the spot and surrounded the house.

The armed man warned the police team of severe consequences in case they tried to break in or arrest him as he had held two young children, 1 and 3-year old as hostage.

However, SSP Dr Mustafa engaged the man in dialogue and offered him safe passage and thus psychologically overpowered him.
