Covid vaccine registration for people above 50 begins

The government of Pakistan opened registration for vaccination against the novel coronavirus for people of 50 years and above on Thursday.

The people belonging to the above-50 age-group can now get themselves registered at 1166 to receive the code for vaccination.

The person will be informed about the vaccination centre after he will get the registration code at 1166.

Meanwhile, the national tally on Thursday of total active Covid-19 cases was recorded 53,127 with 4,974 more people tested positive for the deadly virus and 2,148 people recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours.

Ninety-eight corona patients died during past 24 hours, 88 of whom were under treatment in hospital and 10 out of the hospital in their respective quarantines or homes, according to the latest update issued by the National command and Operation Centre.

During the last 24 hours most of the deaths had occurred in the Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Out of the total 98 deaths, 29 of the deceased had died on ventilators during their treatment.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, who also heads the National Command and operation Center (NCOC), said he has asked the provinces to increase the pace of vaccination to fully utilize the vaccines which have been made available.

The federal minister took to Twitter on Thursday and said Pakistan received 560,000 procured vaccines yesterday.

Asad Umar went on to say that another five lac doses will arrive tonight. He said he reviewed the vaccine administration situation in NCOC today.
