Family members of the 10-year-old boy of the Jamali tribe, who had died in Nawab Shah on Sunday due to the non-availability of vaccine following he was bitten by a snake, blocked Mehran Highway for traffic on Monday to register their protest.

The protestors shouted slogans against the health department, held a sit-in there and burnt tyres.

The protestors told media men that no vaccine was available at Shaheed Benazirbad district and suburbs for the victims of snake and dog bite.

They told the authorities they would not bury their dead unless and until they were provided justice in the case.

Sanaullah Jamali had died after he was bitten by a snake in Nawab Shah on Sunday.

Sanaullah was taken to Bandhi Rural Health Centre, but the health facility didn’t have the medicine required to treat the patient bitten by a snake.

The boy’s family was shifting him to another hospital (People’s Medical Hospital in Nawab Shah) when he breathed his last on way to the hospital. He was the resident of Muhammad Urs Jamali village.—INP
