CM Murad orders completion of 129 schemes before financial year

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, keeping in view the forthcoming completion of current financial year, has started reviewing on-going development schemes launched by different departments of the provincial government.He reviewed the progress of the education sector portfolio on Friday.

The meeting was attended by Minister Education Saeed Ghani, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Chairman P&D M. Waseem, PSCM Sajid Jamal Abro, Secretary School Education Mohammad BuxNarejo, Secretary Finance Hassan Naqvi, Secretary College Education Khalid Hyder Shah, Member P&D Fatah Tunio, Special Secretary Education Asif Memon and other concerned staff.

The chief minister reviewed the progress of each and every scheme of the education sector and directed the minister to provide furniture to the schools and colleges.

At this the education minister said that the court has issued a stay order against the purchase of school furniture.

The CM directed the chief secretary to talk to the chief law officer and present the government case effectively.

The School education department has a portfolio of Rs5864.938 million to complete 269 million against which Rs28643.178 million has been released showing a throw-forward of Rs30001.760 million.

The chief minister said that out of Rs13,150 million current financial year allocation he has released Rs7,289.547 million against which Rs4,598.039 million have been utilised which showed 63.06 percent utilization of the released amount.

The chief minister said that there were 129 such on-going schemes which had less than Rs25 million allocation were decided to be provided total required funds in one so that they could be completed in time.

He added that out of Rs1407 million allocation for these 129 on-going schemes Rs1000.728 million have been released but utilization has been recorded at Rs319.893 million or 31.97 percent.

The CM directed Minister education to personally review the progress of 129 schemes and get them completed before the end of current financial year.

 

Ghani assured the chief minister that these 60 schemes would be completed by the end of June 2021.

The schemes the school education department has launched include seven schemes of Early Childhood, 14 schemes of construction of buildings for shelterless schools, a large number of primary school’s upgradation to the level of middle, and middle to secondary and secondary to higher secondary schools, expansion of high 4560 priority schools, reconstruction 28 dangerous school buildings and various other schemes.
