Significance of oath in Islam

There are numerous Hadiths which signify the sanctity of an oath taken publicly and voluntarily, which can be renounced only under rare circumstances, if there is danger to life of self or family, or quoting Abu Huraira “whosoever swears an oath of obedience to God, should remain obedient to Him, and whoever swears an oath of disobedience to God, should not disobey him”.

The Quaid-i-Azam, in his 14 June 1948 address at Quetta, emphasized upon the significance of the oath, its legal implications and bindings, and the responsibilities it places on the person who pledges an oath.

The recitation of the Kalema is basically an oath which any individual if he recites voluntarily and willingly, enables him to enter the fold of Islam.

By reciting the Kalema an individual pledges belief in one Almighty Allah SWT, as master of the universe, and that Muhammad PBUH is his last messenger.

Any doubt, automatically expels the individual from Islam in the eyes of Almighty Allah SWT. The State has no role to perform, except to cater for the welfare of all citizens.

It is obligatory on the state to provide justice, equal opportunities to all law-abiding citizens, without any fear or favour, irrespective of his caste, creed, sex or ethnicity.

Unfortunately, the ease and frequency with which, the oath to protect the Constitution and rule of law, has been violated is shocking for a country with Muslim majority population.

Quaid-i-Azam promised that Pakistan would be a modern democratic welfare state, with justice and equality before law for all citizens.

Unfortunately, those at the helm after MAJ’s sad demise have betrayed the Father of the Nation and the country suffered many humiliations and tragedies such as the 1971 debacle, and yet no lessons have been learned.

Rising prices of essential commodities

Please permit me to point out the menace of rising prices of essential commodities. I shall be obliged to you to kindly publish my views by sparing me a column or two in your esteemed daily.

The rise in the price s of essential commodities has become a very serious issue. The daily necessities of life are becoming costlier with each passing day.

Prices of wheat, flour, rice, pulses, sugar, vegetable oil and other basic necessities of life have touched new heights. In fact, there is no limit to galloping prices.

The steep rise in prices has severely hit the poor and middle class people. They groan day and night under crushing weight of rising prices. The government must realise that price line is the life line.

Big businessmen and hoarders store things in their godowns and create artificial shortage in the market. This leads to an increase in prices. More fair price depots should be set up.

Shopkeepers and traders must be ordered to put price lists of essential commodities at some prominent places. Black marketers and hoarders must be dealt with sternly. Much food should not be wasted in parties and marriages.

People should understand the value of simple living and observe it in their daily life. Every step must be taken to check the rise in prices.

Uddhav and his big talks

Uddhav Thackeray, the CM of Maharashtra, is trying to play safe by making Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh to resign from his post.

Not only API Sachin Vaze and Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, but even CM Uddhav Thackeray is involved in corruption.

He too should resign. The people of Maharashtra never expected this from the Shiv Sena government. Like Sachin Vaze, Param Bir Singh too should be tried in court.

Bus fare

In Pakistan, buses are the main source of transportation, because they are running 24/7/12 in the country. But the sad part is that, they charge undue fare, which everyone can’t afford.

For example, from Turbat to Karachi they take 1500 for only a single body and with goods more than two thousands are charged, which is a huge amount for the poor people to pay.

The poor people of the area hardly manage their three-time meal and it is nearly impossible for them to pay such a huge amount. The relevant authorities are requested to do something about this serious issue.
