Prof Khalid Masud Gondal awarded Pride of Performance

Prof Khalid MasudGondal, a graduate of King Edward Medical College (KEMC) and a Fellow of College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), Royal College of Physicians, Glasgow, American College of Surgeons, is regular Vice Chancellor of KEMU, the prestigious and historic institution of South Asia with 160 years of excellence in medical education.
Around 19,000 Alumni of KEMU are serving within the country and abroad.

The institution is accredited for PhD, CPSP and University postgraduate programmes since decades. Prof Gondal has over 100 National and International research papers with more than 40 International / National presentations including state-of-the-art lectures on international forums.

HEC Pakistan has nominated him focal person of Research in the subject of Surgery and he has been the judge for National Research Award of HEC.

He is among a few academicians who hold post-graduation in Medical Education (MCPS-HPE) and PhD in Medical Education from University of Health Sciences.

He is the part of the team who supervised and implemented competency based medical education, revamping curricula and launching of innovative monitoring system i.e. e-log at CPSP level and at university level.

Prof. Gondal is a senior faculty member of American College of Surgeons, Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) programme and has represented the country at international forums including Royal College of Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, USA, Middle East and countries of SAARC region.

He has been a major contributor towards signing the MoUs with abovementioned countries.

He has the unique honor of being the first regular Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University and within the short span of six months he managed the accreditation of University by PM&DC, HEC, establishment of Examinations Department, regular appointment on constitutional posts of Pro-Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Controller of Examinations.

He introduced new sub-specialties programmes and revamped rules and regulations of the University and Website. In his tenure the Journal of FJMU was accredited by PM&DC, HEC and CPSP.

Considering his services in Medical Education he was elevated to grade 21 in 2015 and Civil Award Tamgha-i-Imtiaz was awarded to Prof. Gondal on 23rd of March, 2013 by the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

As KEMU VC, he has contributed in academics, research, infrastructure development and financial micro management of the Institution.

In his tenure PhD programmes in basic sciences have been approved by PM&DC and HEC. New University and Fellowship Programmes are introduced.

The research journal Annals of KEMU besides having accredited by PM&DC and HEC in category “y” also approved by CPSP and included in 20 indexing agencies.
