LAHORE – Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan H.E Mr Nong Rong planted a sapling during his visit to MG JW Plant Construction Phase-1 site.
Mr. Faisal Afridi received the delegation upon arrival and introduced the delegates, including Chinese Commercial Counsellor – Mr. Xie Guoxiang to the MG JW Management. Haier Pakistan CEO Mr Javed Afridi was also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, General Manager MG Technical – Mr Taimoor Ahmed Khan briefed the visiting ambassador on the plant construction milestones along with planned completion targets.
It is to be recalled that the Board of Investment (BOI) decided to facilitate the entry of China’s largest automobile manufacturer in Pakistan and the first private Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Raiwind, Punjab.
With an estimated Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of Rs. 663 million and local investment of Rs. 637 million MG JW Automobile Pakistan Pvt. Ltd was granted admission in JW SEZ, Raiwind, Punjab, as “Zone Enterprise”, said a press release issued by BOI here.
MG JW Automobile Pakistan (PVT) Ltd is a Joint Venture between SMIL a subsidiary of SAIC (1st largest Chinese and 7th largest global automobile manufacturer) and JW SEZ. An investment of Rs17 bln is underway for Plant setup.
MG is an iconic British automotive brand known for its sporty heritage with a legacy of more than 97 years.
MG JW has already established its dealership network in main cities and plans to expand its reach within 2021.
The company is at an advanced stage to join hands with leading conglomerates for Multi Brand after-sales service for its growing customer base.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Zhao Jei from SMIL said that consumer response for MG HS is very encouraging. As a result, SAIC is evaluating expanding the automotive range and local plant capacity.
Automotive specifications especially the safety specs like 6 airbags and built quality are of prime importance for MG local production.
The Chinese Ambassador reviewed the MG vehicle range on display. He was keen to know about the fully electric vehicle. MG ZS EV (1st fully electric B-SUV) is expected to be introduced in April 2021.
MG is all set to spoil Pakistan with Automotive options. It is committed to the Electric revolution and investment in high-tech localization.
