While briefing the media about the Temporary Collection Point (TCP) near Arfa Karim Tower on Sunday, the LWMC CEO said that he is grateful to the media which helped the LWMC by pointing out the problematic areas.
The CEO also applauded the LWMC teams, working day and night to maintain cleanliness across the city.
He also briefed about the closure of the temporary collection point (TCP) near Arfa Karim Tower.
He said that the department conducted a grand cleanliness operation and lifted more than 4,000 tons of waste from here.
Heavy machinery like trolleys, excavators, and compactors has been used to lift and transfer the waste from here.
The operation has been completed in 6 days and now this site is zero waste.
A budget of worth Rs. 4 billion has been approved for the procurement of more than 9 hundred new operational machinery.
He also stated that with the help of additional and new machinery, LWMC would be able to work more effectively and the exemplary cleanliness arrangement will be made in the city.
Citizens would not be disappointed and new and better mechanisms will be introduced in the provincial capital.
In other to maintain cleanliness on daily basis as well as to clear the entire backlog LWMC is working tirelessly and lifting record 6500 tons of waste on daily basis.
As per PPRA rules, the new machinery will be procured within three months. He also said that the prompt and proper cooperation of the public is highly required as without their pivotal role department alone cannot achieve its mission.
Citizens are requested not to litter and to always dispose of their waste properly.
