Ensure timely approval of summaries: IGP

Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani on Tuesday emphasized that summaries sent to different government departments should be pursued through better coordination and followed-up for early approval to ensure that the Police operations are not impacted by unnecessary delays.

“Officers should improve their coordination with all government functionaries for in-time approval of summaries send to various departments with the aim to improve the performance of professional matters, acquire modern resources, expand the scope of posts and recruit capable human resources.”

Punjab IG Police Inam Ghani was presiding over a meeting held at Central Police Office to review progress on the process of summaries approval sent to different departments.

The IGP directed to expedite the progress on all summaries sent to the government departments by Punjab Police.

He directed heads of all units to review their related affairs and remove objections raised by the departments as soon as possible and send them back for approval and where necessary talk to the relevant officers personally and ensure timely approval of these summaries.

He said that the decision to set up District Reconciliation Committees and Police Complaints Authority is a good move and for their approval, Additional IG establishment and DIG legal should keep close coordination with Law Ministry and other offices concerned whereas all possible steps should be taken for early approval of the summaries regarding filling the vacant slots of SP complaints at district level as early as possible.

The IGP said that Additional IG Logistics should liaise closely with the concerned departments for early approval of the summary sent for purchase of APCs and 4G locators while DIG Traffic Motor should ensure close follow-up for approval of summary of amendment in Transport Bill 2020.

During the meeting, the heads of Establishment, Welfare and Finance, Special Branch, Punjab Highway Patrol, Special Protection Unit, Logistics and Procurement and other departments and units briefed IG Punjab on their summaries on which IG Punjab gave instructions.

He said that it was the responsibility of the command officers to get these summaries approved within the time frame through effective coordination and cooperation.

Additional IG Establishment Azhar Hameed Khokhar, Additional IG Safe City Authority Rao Sardar, Additional IG Logistics and Procurement Ali Amir Malik, Additional IG PHP Shahid Hanif, Additional IG Training Kanwar Shah Rukh, Additional IG Elite Farooq Mazhar, Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan, Additional IG Special Branch Zaeem Iqbal Sheikh and other senior officers attended the meeting.
