Heads roll during CM’s whirlwind S. Punjab visit

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar made Multan Deputy Commissioner (DC), Regional Police Officer (RPO) and Station House Officer (SHO) as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) over their poor performance during his whirlwind visit to different areas of South Punjab.

The CM conducted surprise visits, spanning over 24 hours, to different cities of South Punjab without protocol.

He travelled to Multan from Islamabad, visited Taunsa Sharif, DG Khan and returned to Multan Monday morning.

Usman Buzdar is the first Chief Minister who paid continuous visits to four cities of the province in one day.
According to details, a protest took place against DPO Muzaffargarh outside the house of the Chief Minister’s relatives where Sardar Usman Buzdar was staying.

Upon which the CM intervened and made Multan DC Amir Khattak and CPO Mian Mehboob Rashid as OSD.

The chief minister questioned why the Multan administration including Multan DC and CPO did not stop the protest.

Multan Bahauddin Zakaria Police SHO Faizan Ali was also suspended for stopping the protest outside the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

He directed to initiate disciplinary proceedings against 27officers over dereliction of duty and failure in the resolution of public complaints.

On the CM’s directions, 12 officers were placed under suspension while 4 officers were removed from their posts, adding that a number of officers were issued show-cause notices over their poor performance.

Sardar Usman Buzdar also removed Multan CPO Mahboob Rashid Mian and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Amir Khattak from their posts over dereliction of duty and failure in the solution of public problems. The S&GAD issued a notification and directed them to report to S&GAD.

Moreover, Assistant Commissioner Headquarter DG Khan (Additional charge AC Taunsa), DSP Multan, SHO Multan and Circle In-Charge Special Branch, CEO Taunsa, tehsil officer (I&S) Taunsa and SHO city Taunsa, were suspended on the direction of Chief Minister.

In-charge Rescue-1122 Taunsa as well as Admin Officer, In-Charge Medicine and a doctor of THQ Hospital Taunsa were also placed under suspension, besides removing district in-charge of Rescue-1122 DG Khan from his post.

In-charge Emergency Teaching Hospital DG Khan was also suspended while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) DG Khan (holding additional charge MD Solid Waste Management Company DG Khan) was made OSD.

He expressed displeasure to commissioners, RPOs of Multan and DG Khan and Deputy Commissioner DG Khan over their poor performance whereas DSP Taunsa, SE and XEN Highway DG Khan as well as CEO Muzaffargarh were issued show-cause notices.

Managing Director Solid Waste Management Company, Multan, MS THQ Hospital Taunsa, XEN and SDO of Public Health Engineering Department were given show cause-notices over their unsatisfactory performance.

The CM visited THQ Hospital Taunsa and inquired patients about the facilities being provided there.

He also took notice of the complaints of attendants and directed to initiate disciplinary action against the responsible one.

He directed to suspend MS Dr Muhammad Tahir upon complaints and further directed to take action against the absentee doctors.

He later went to PS City; inquired about the accused confined in lockup and directed to treat the visitors well, adding that the police should perform its duties as a servant to the citizens.

Meanwhile, Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Mr Andreas Ferrarese called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and discussed matters of mutual interest.

He invited the CM to visit Italy and both agreed to promote bilateral cooperation for the protection of historical places as well as the promotion of tourism.

The chief minister invited the Italian investors to invest in special economic zones where facilities are provided to the investors.

7 special economic zones have been notified and the establishment of 13 SEZs has been planned by the government, he added and assured to provide different facilities to Italian investors in special economic zones.

Meanwhile, the CM added that new tourist spots were being developed adding that the scope of the Walled City of Lahore Authority has been expanded to the whole of the province.

The Italian Ambassador said a conducive atmosphere has been provided to investors adding that a lot of work has been done for the protection of historical places.

The Italian investors are interested to benefit from the opportunities of investment to further expand cooperation with the Punjab government, he added.
