A delegation led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Defence Minister Pervez Khattak visited the headquarters of the Awami National Party on Sunday, to garner support for the forthcoming election of the Senate chairman.
The delegation met ANP’s central senior vice president Amir Haider Khan Hoti at Wali Bagh in Peshawar. PTI’s candidate for Senate chairman, Sadiq Sanjarani, was also present on the occasion.
The ANP is a part of the opposition’s 11-party alliance, the Pakistan Democratic Movement.
Besides Hoti, ANP leaders Iftikhar Hussain, Aimal Wali Khan, party’s newly elected senator Arbab Umar Farooq also attended the meeting, MPA Shakeel Bashir Khan Umarzai, and minister from Balochistan Zamrak Khan Achakzai.
Speaking on the occasion, Amir Haider Khan said that Wali Bagh is the centre of the Pakhtun national movement, and thanked the delegation for their visit.
The ANP leader added that, “ANP is part of the PDM [but] we appreciate your visit. Hoti further said that all decisions in the the party are made through consultation.
“We will also consult the party about your request.”
