ISLAMABAD – After securing vote of confidence from the National Assembly, Prime Minister Imran Khan vowed on Saturday that he will solely fight against those who have looted the country whether his party members part ways with him.
Addressing the NA session, the premier said: “Will fight till the last ball”. Saying the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and judiciary is hearing the corruption cases, he said that the government had no control on these institutions since they are independent.
However, the ensured support to the NAB and judiciary in cases in order to award punishment those who have looted public money.
Lashing out at opposition leaders, he said that they wanted to pressurise him to get NRO-like concession, adding that the PPP, PML-N and other opposition parties are misassumption that they could blackmail him.
The premier said that Opposition tried to blackmail the government of FATF-related legislation, adding: “You cannot even imagine what would have happened in the country if sanctions are imposed by the FATF”.
Talking about economic issues, he said that the government was facing challenges on this front, adding, “We need to focus on exports’ growth”. He also appreciated his economic team to drive the country out of the tough times.
“Facing pressure due to inflation,” he said, adding that the government will help people through Ehsaas program.
Talking about Senate elections, he said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) statement that polls were held in a good way hurt him.
He reiterated that secret ballot was being supported only to defeat Abdul Hafeez Shaikh. The premier said that the ECP should take briefing from agencies to get know about the horse trading.
Imran Khan also thanked the party members and allies for trusting him.
