Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar and Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar called on Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Monday and held a detailed discussion over different issues.
Both the Governor and chief minister appreciated Speaker Asad Qaiser for managing the NA affairs in the best of manner.
At the outset, the Speaker termed the unopposed election of Senate candidates in Punjab as appreciable adding that the federal government believes in transparency in Senate election.
Election of candidates in other provinces, based on parties’ Senate representation, will be a positive move towards maintaining transparency as questions were raised over the transparency of Senate elections in the past, he maintained.
It is a democratic right of all the parties to gain seats in the Senate according to their number of senators in the upper house of the parliament, he continued.
The Speaker emphasized that all the political parties, as well as the Election Commission of Pakistan, should play their role in ensuring transparency in the Senate election.
Cooperation between all the political forces is desirous to let-out the country of the prevailing crisis.
The incumbent government has overcome the economic crisis and the economic indicators confirm that the economy is moving towards development, added Asad Qaiser and emphasized that political turmoil would be a major hurdle in the way of development.
Governor Ch. Sarwar termed the unopposed election of Senate candidates in Punjab as a symbol of political wisdom adding that raising fingers over past Senate elections is a weakness of the democratic process. I
t is hoped that opposition will extend cooperation in the larger national interest in the future as well, he added.
CM Usman Buzdar said the government is willing to take all the political powers along in the province and emphasized that Punjab is moving on the path of development.
Work is in progress on several development projects to create more job opportunities.
Similarly, the government is working on special economic zones to ensure development while the tourism potential is being optimally exploited as it can play an important role in national development.
