Administrator assures revamping of FyzeeRahamin Art Gallery

Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmad has said that the construction of FyzeeRahamin Art Gallery and Auditorium should be completed on priority basis so that programs can be held in the largest auditorium of Karachi.

Khalid Khan, Senior Director Coordination, Mansoor Qazi, Senior Director Culture Sports and Recreation, Nespak, representatives of the auditorium construction company and other officials were also present on the occasion.

The Administrator said Karachi lacks facilities for holding culture, sports and recreation programs which we can complete by completing projects under construction, he said, adding that there is no auditorium in Karachi with 1800 seats, FyzeeRahamin Auditorium is a very important place.

He said that the auditorium would be centrally air-conditioned, with a 70-foot high stage and two galleries with an auditorium of 600 seats.

Briefing on the occasion, they were informed that FyzeeRahamin Auditorium has 1800 seats and more than 200 vehicles can be parked in its premises.

Yes, work on this auditorium was started in 2008 but due to non-availability of funds this work has not been completed so far which has further increased the expenditure on it. He was informed that this project will cost Rs. 210 million.

But now much more money will be needed, 80% of the auditorium and art gallery work has been completed, 20% of the work is completed and funds are needed to pay the contractor’s arrears. The project is expected to be completed soon and will be supported by the World Bank.
