The torrential rains coupled with light floods in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tuesday left at least eight people and many others seriously wounded. ‘Eight people were killed and four injured in rain and flood related incidents in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday’, the Rescue as well as the Provincial Disaster Management Authority officials said
The rescue officials said as many as five people succumbed to their injuries and four wounded when roof of their houses collapsed in Katlang Tehsil of Mardan on Tuesday. A man, his wife and two children were killed when the rooftop of their mud house caved in at Farash Colony in Katlang.
The Police said though the roof of the house was collapsed in the night yet the residents of the locality could not take notice of the incident due to heavy wind storm. The deceased were identified as Zakirullah, his wife and their two children three years old Abdul Samad and two years’ Sapna. The emergency workers transferred bodies of deceased and injured to the Katlang Hospital.
On the other hand the rains also played havoc in Dir district where the downpour resulted in light flood in Maidan area of the Lower Dir District. Locals said the gushing waters swept away at least three children who were pronounced dead after their recovery.
