A City court on Wednesday handed down seven-year imprisonment with a Rs200,000 fine to a police officer for receiving bribe. Senior Special Judge Anti-Corruption Sohaib Ahmad announced the verdict against Sargodha Police’s ASI Riaz Ahmad for accepting Rs50,000 bribe.
The Anti-Corruption Department had arrested the accused red-handed while receiving the money. The convict will have to undergo another three months in jail if he does not pay the fine of Rs200,000. The ASI had accepted the bribe to favour the applicant during an investigation.
