A Lahore Accountability Court on Tuesday held hearing of the Ramazan Sugar Mills case against PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz and adjourned it until February 24.
Counsel for Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz, Advocate Amjad Pervaiz completed cross-examination on witness Ghulam Mustafa and the court summoned another witness in the next hearing. Accountability Judge Amjad Nazir was presiding over the proceedings. A number of PML-N leaders and workers were also present outside the accountability court to show solidarity with their leaders.
Both the father and son were brought to the court amid strict security measures. During the previous hearing, the accountability court had ordered the Punjab government to include PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif’s personal doctors in the medical board set up for his medical check-up. The court ordered the Punjab Health Secretary to immediately provide medical reports to Shehbaz Sharif.
The three-page court verdict was issued by Accountability Court’s Admin Judge Jawadul Hassan. The judge also ordered the inclusion of Shehbaz’s personal doctors – Prof Arif Khan, Prof Aqeel Bari and Prof Tahir Nasar – in the medical board.
