The National Accountability Board (NAB), Lahore has closed investigation against former Punjab minister and PML-N leader Rana Mashhood, “due to a lack of evidence.”

The NAB has formally announced the decision that the PML-N leader has been exonerated of misappropriation charges in Punjab Youth Festival.

According to sources, the bureau had also sent details of the investigation to its Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal. The PML-N leader had been Sports Board’s Steering Committee vice chairman as well as the chairman of its organizing body.

He was the Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs when the youth festival was held in 2013.

The sources added that anti-corruption watchdog had failed to find evidence of irregularities against the minister, leading to closure of the investigation. Now when Mashhood’s name has been cleared in the case, the NAB would now focus on allegations against former DG Sports Board and others.
